Happy

HAPPY BY: MICHAEL BLACK

Will I ever be happy?

What is happy?

Happy can’t be always

Looking over one’s shoulder

Pondering the “what ifs;”

Happy isn’t peering

Through far-sighted glasses.

Happy is staying

Firmly in the sandbox

With that Tonka Truck

Making motor noises

With your lips

Finding the euphoria

In a dusty-colored life

Knowing that it will

Never be pristine

But it is uniquely yours;

The love and hurt

Everything in between

Is your treasure

Howbeit,

Garbage to another

Still, yours.

Happy is

The moment in front of you

Perceived through the eyes

Of a fruit fly.
